Ballarat Health Services provides a complex range of surgical, medical, obstetric, psychiatric, palliative care, rehabilitation and residential services. Ballarat is located approximately 75 minutes drive west of Melbourne and offers a wide range of recreational, sporting and social facilities for a population of over 90,000 people.  A vibrant, progressive regional city, Ballarat is large enough to retain its own regional flavour but is within easy commuting distance to Melbourne.

 

BHS has a Digital Medical Record which allows for development and innovation in coding practices and work arrangement flexibility.

 

We are seeking a Trainee Clinical Coder for our Clinical Coder Training Program (CCTP). The successful applicant will be trained via a systematic progression through episode complexity to become a fully independent clinical coder. This is a two day per week position for 9-12 months, with potential for ongoing employment as a clinical coder, subject to successful completion of the CCTP.  

 

 

Key selection criteria include:

  • Health Information Manager or Clinical Coder qualification (HIMAA or similar)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Competent with MS Office applications
